Week 1 Visual Communication

We were asked to choose a favorite design and present to the class and explain why you like it and how it works as a form of communication. I came up with a few favorites and enjoyed the exercise as it got the creative mind going.

Below is a poster showing how five people a day die from passive smoking. I like the simplicity of the ad and in particular the 5 strokes of ash indicating the loss of lifes. The message is clear and the idea is well communicated. The image of the cigarette is well centered . It is drawn and the material used has been carefully considered. The text is in a subtle grey and to the bottom as not to take away from the message.
